VSI preparation for Finished Products Expo

I’m attending Vitafoods in Geneva later this month, and will be talking to a handful of companies that are launching new products at the event.

In this short series of blogs, I’ll share some of my correspondence with these companies, working up to the day when their products are revealed for all to see at Vitafoods or the FPE (Finished Products Expo).

VSI is a Dutch company specialising in the manufacture of food bars. Its product range consists of meal replacement bars and functional food bars, as well as sport, energy and organic products.

At this year’s Finished Products Expo, the company will launch two new ranges. Roel van Dam of VSI shares his thoughts on the lead-up to the big event …

We’ve been exhibiting at Finished Products Expo since it was little more than a pavilion within Vitafoods. Over the years, we’ve seen it develop and are now hugely excited that this year, for the first time, we’ll have our own show in a separate hall with our very own entrance.

So, we can’t think of a better time or place to launch our two latest brand new products onto the market. We’ve spent a great deal of time preparing for their release. Plans started developing way back at the show this time last year. We rebooked our stand on-site and started brainstorming new ideas, and as soon as we got back to the office, we started working on what we would be doing at this year’s event. These things take a great deal of time; it’s certainly not a quick process.

Once we decided we were going to launch these products, we had to tie all our show activity around this: stand, marketing, packaging, sales literature and samples. You name it, we thought about it. We have even decided, for added exposure, to submit one of the products for the functional foods category in the Tasting Bar this year. Of course, this means extra preparation of samples and accompanying material, but it’s a great way to get your product in front of a captive audience.

At the end of each day, there are the Tasting Bar Awards, so we’re hoping for some success there, too. At least all the effort would then be even more worth it!
